Programs & Services

Who does Rainbow Village serve?

Rainbow Village offers a comprehensive range of programs to help families that are experiencing homelessness. Our focus on individual development for both the parent(s) and the children is of utmost importance.

How many families do you serve?

The ASPIRE program can serve 30 families at a time.

The THRIVE Alumni program has capacity for 100 families at a time.

What is the program admissions/application process?

Admission to the program is only open when there is an apartment available. The
admission process begins with an assessment to ensure eligibility. The next step is to complete and return the ASPIRE application. Applications are only provided to families when/if we have a unit available. Once an application is completed it is reviewed by the Program team and administrative staff. The application review can take up to two weeks once all required documents are received. If the application is approved, the family is required to participate in an interview with a Success Coach where they will identify the potential family’s ability to complete the program. The family will have a final meeting with the CEO before acceptance to the program.

After all interviews are completed and the family is accepted, they will be given a move in date. The professional staff at Rainbow Village takes very seriously the responsibility we have for caring our families. Although the admissions process is rigorous, our aim is to make the process as smooth as possible, and to provide support and help whenever needed.

What are the requirements for program eligibility?

The ASPIRE Residential Program is a rigorous endeavor that requires a desire and attitude to make long-lasting life changes. The minimum requirements for eligibility are:

  1. Participant must be homeless or eminently homeless
  2. Must have a GA ID
  3. Must have custody of at least 1 minor child.
Are program participants required to pay anything?

Participants are required to pay below market rental fee as well as contribute to a personal savings account.

How long is the waiting list?

We do not maintain a waiting list.  Those in need of services at a time when Rainbow Village is at full occupancy are provided other community resources that match their needs so that they may seek immediate assistance.

Why are you always full?

Unfortunately, the demand for our services far exceeds the supply. We are not a shelter. We offer a longer-term option for families to heal and prepare for life after Rainbow Village. The intensity of the program allows families to focus on their greatest needs before moving to market rate housing.

What is the average length of stay for a family?

Resident progress and compliance is assessed every 90 days to determine continued eligibility for program participation for up to 2 years.

Do you help program participants find jobs?

Yes. Employment/Career is a key area of focus for clients to move toward economic self-sufficiency. Our goal is to identify barriers that prevent earning a living wage and assist each client in developing a plan to address them.

What services are available for the children and youth?

The Rainbow Village ACADEMY provides afterschool care for our young residents.

Summer Camp, as well as camps for Winter and Spring Breaks, are also provided. Our aim is to provide the same level of support for our children and youth that we provide to their parents. The focus for the children and youth programs is academic success and an opportunity to have fun.

Do you continue to help the families after they leave the Rainbow Village campus?

Yes. Residents are encouraged to participate in our Thrive Alumni Program upon transitioning out of our program.
