Although the two Duluth-based organizations have had a long-standing, community-based relationship, 2025 marks the first year Primerica has partnered with Rainbow Village as the Title Sponsor of the nonprofit’s Second Chance Golf Classic. The financial services company hit the ground running earlier this year to drum up support for the event, which historically marks the second largest fundraiser on Rainbow Village’s annual calendar. More than one month before golfers tee up on the course at TPC Sugarloaf on September 22, all individual and foursome spots have been filled. What’s even more exciting is that – if projections hold – the event is on track to more than double the funds raised during the nonprofit’s previous record-holding tournament. In 2023, the Second Chance Golf Classic raised an unprecedented $190,777 in support of Rainbow Village’s mission to bring Help, Hope, Housing, and Healing to families experiencing homelessness in Metro Atlanta.
“We are honored and humbled by the passion shown by the Primerica team to make the 2025 Second Chance Golf Classic the best tournament in our organization’s history,” said Melanie Conner, CEO of Rainbow Village. “This is a year of extraordinary growth at Rainbow Village, with our Building Homes, Building Hope Capital Campaign underway to more than double the number of families we can serve. Our neighbors at Primerica have partnered with our organization for years – volunteering their time for everything from prepping apartments for incoming families to hosting game nights with our youth. Through their newfound role as Title Sponsor of the Golf Classic, they’re not only helping to organize the event; they’re taking on the role of ambassador. By tapping into their extensive network, Primerica is introducing our organization and mission to people who may have never heard of Rainbow Village before. We are beyond grateful to them, our Legacy Sponsor at Northside Hospital, and all our other sponsors, golfers, and volunteers for their role in helping us end homelessness – one family at a time. The tournament hasn’t even started yet, and we already feel as though we’ve won.”
“For nearly 30 years, Primerica has been proud to support Rainbow Village,” said Kathryn Kieser, Chair of The Primerica Foundation and Chief Reputation Officer at Primerica. “Homelessness is a complex issue, and Rainbow Village has been very successful at helping families transition back to independent living by providing temporary housing and wrap-around services for those in crisis. This golf tournament is a great opportunity for us to come together to make a lasting impact in our community.”
For those Rainbow Village supporters who didn’t secure a spot in the tournament but still wish to contribute to the organization’s growth, Conner suggested a couple of impactful ways. First and foremost, donations to the Building Homes, Building Hope Capital Campaign will support the construction of two new apartment buildings on Rainbow Village’s newly expanded campus in Downtown Duluth, as well as help improve the quality of the nonprofit’s programs to create better outcomes and improved quality of life for the families it serves. Secondly, sponsorships, tickets, and tables for Rainbow Village’s annual Gala are currently available. Newly titled, the Tailgate to Tackle Homelessness, this year’s Gala will be hosted at Formetco in Duluth on Saturday, October 4.
