Adult Life Skills Training
The overarching objective of the Rainbow Village program is to facilitate a change in behavior in the families that seek our assistance. A fundamental component of achieving this goal is to help the adult heads of household identify the learned behaviors that contribute to their homelessness, while providing the environment, opportunities and resources that will allow them to replace those limiting behaviors with more adaptive ones. To this end, the Adult Life-Skills classes fall into five general categories.
- Personal Development
- Financial Management
- Parenting & Family Issues
- Home Management
- Career Development
Classes are facilitated by community volunteers with expertise in the subject area. To cover the important information in the five core areas, residents are required to attend all scheduled classes (two evening each week during the school year and one evening each week during the summer), averaging 80 classes per year.
