Building Strong Communities … One Family at a Time

The most difficult challenge we face as an organization is responding to and meeting the needs of the ever-growing number of homeless families in our community. The need is astounding and we currently can only serve 10 families at a time. Because of trying economic times there are more homeless families than ever before. The average age of a homeless person is now 9 years old. The reality is that this affects not only our generation but many to come because the traumatization to the children will have long-term effect if not addressed properly.

On April 15, 2011 we launched a capital campaign and unveiled our plan to expand our “village” to allow for us to triple the number of families we can serve at one time. Over the next five years we will build in 3 phases a new campus in Duluth that will house and support 30 families. The new campus will include a much-needed on-site childcare center and a community/education center, as well as a resident support center and new housing units for all. This new village will allow us to say “yes” to so many more families and have a significant impact addressing the homelessness issue in our community.

You can help us break the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic abuse by investing in the future of our community. Although the groundwork has been laid, there is still much to be done. The plan is designed. The strategic planning is complete. The fundraising feasibility study is finished and the campaign leadership is in place. The only thing that waits is your investment to help bring the Master Plan to fruition. Please consider being a part of the promising future of homeless families with children in North Metro Atlanta!

Rotary Legacy Partnership

The eight Rotary Clubs in our community have made a commitment to champion the fundraising efforts to build an Education/Recreation and Day Care Facility for the new village, as well as coordinate an ongoing partnership that will include volunteering, mentoring, and service for years to come.  This facility will house the Rainbow Village after-school program, children and youth character-building programs, the Adult Learning Center for Life Skills and Workforce Development, a day care facility, kitchen and cafeteria where community meals and events will be held. Rotarians all across our community are committed to this unprecedented partnership and ask you now to join in our effort to bring this vision to reality for our community.
