National Child Welfare Study Examines Recession
August 30, 2011A national study on child well-being from theĀ Annie E. Casey Foundation finds that child poverty increased in 38 states from 2000 to 2009, according to the Associated Press. Nearly 15 million children — 20 percent of the child population — were poor in 2009, a 2.5 million increase from 2000. The percent of families with children who were asset poor jumped to 37%.
