Lots of Back-to-School Action!

As summer adventures draw to a close we want to thank once again Duluth Rotary Club and Duluth Parks & Recreation for making our kids’ summer camp experience truly unforgettable. Several of our teens were given the unique opportunity to serve as junior camp counselors which gave them valuable hands-on leadership training. All of our kids took away many wonderful memories and real-life lessons that they will carry with them for a lifetime.

This summer we were so very proud to have four families transition out of our program and return to a life of self-sufficiency. We then welcomed two new families, both headed by single dads, into our Rainbow Village community. A special thanks goes out to members of Cornerstone Church who came out and helped us refurbish one of our houses in Norcross so that our new families could have a fresh, clean start and feel a special Rainbow Village welcome.

Another BIG shout out goes to RBC Bank, Lexus Nexus, Mom’s Club of Duluth, Northeast Community Church and Perimeter Church.  Thanks to these great partners we were able to provide all Rainbow Village children with the necessary backpacks and school supplies they needed for the new school year.  Additional school supplies were donated to our after school program as well.  These in-kind resources are truly invaluable to our families.

While these may appear to some as every day scholarships, volunteer hours, and in-kind donations, we want to remind you that to our families these gifts speak volumes. They say to them again and again, “We believe in you. We’re here for you. We’re beside you every step of the way!”
