This month we introduce you to Karen Fine Saltiel. Karen just recently joined our board but has been an active supporter of Rainbow Village for years. As Executive VP for Primerica she serves as their Chief Human Resource Officer. Her expertise in financial services, human resources, and law proves invaluable to our leadership team. Karen currently chairs our Personnel Committee and recently helped conduct a compensation review for our organization. Karen is a champion for us on many fronts throughout the community. What was your first job?
“I was a proof-reader for a magazine company. One of my assignments was to proof the American Medical Association Journal. Right out of college I worked in Human Resources for the New York Public Library.”

What brought you here to Gwinnett?
“A job transfer. I’ve been with Primerica for 16 years and there was an exciting opportunity here I couldn’t pass up.”

What or who inspires you?
“My children – because seeing the world through their eyes makes life fun and enjoyable.”

What do you do to relax?
“I don’t.” (big laugh)

What’s your favorite book?
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I read it in college and it really opened my eyes to the bigger world around me.”

What makes you laugh?
“My husband!”

Tell us about your family.
“My husband Jack and I have been married for 6 years. We met on Match.com. He owns a casino gaming company. We are raising together four wonderful children ranging in age from 15-29.”

How did you learn about the work of Rainbow Village?
“Nancy Yancey and I were classmates in Leadership Gwinnett – Class of 2005 (the best class ever!)”

What is your most memorable Rainbow Village moment? (if any)
“My family and I came to Rainbow Village to do a service project together one weekend. We painted and cleaned out one of the houses. It was a great family-building project and was a great opportunity to teach them the importance of volunteering.”

What words of encouragement do you have for Rainbow Village families?
“You can do it!”

“The possibilities are endless.”
