May 18, 2011
Rainbow Village is pleased to announce that Sandra Cathy has been named our new Chief Development Officer and will be a driving force in our recently announced $7.7 million capital campaign for the construction of a new all-inclusive village to support homeless families with children.
Sandra Cathy is a seasoned community relations professional with a strong background in advocacy, resource development, and collaborative partnership formation. Sandra’s experience draws from her past service as Director of Government & Community Relations for the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce, Director of Governmental Affairs for the Greater Atlanta Home Builders Association, and Staff Director with the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama and the Atlanta Regional Leadership Institute.
Rainbow Village CEO, Nancy Yancey, shares, “Sandra’s depth of experience working with non-profits on local, regional, national and international levels brings a new caliber of resource development to our organization. As we work to triple the number of families we can serve over the next few years, it is imperative we enlist a new level of support for our mission. We are raising the bar and working hard to bring the needs of the hidden homeless in our region to the forefront. Sandra clearly understands the big picture and how the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence are all connected and impact the strength and vitality of our community overall. We are excited to have her join our staff and can’t wait to see what she unfolds for our organization.”
Fundraising efforts towards the capital campaign, which went public on April 15th, has already surpassed 57% of the construction goal. In addition to championing the fundraising efforts for the capital campaign, Sandra’s duties will include overseeing marketing initiatives, grant and foundation relations, annual giving, partnership development and community relations.
Sandra states, “I am thrilled to be joining the staff at Rainbow Village. The support that is shown this organization across all segments of our community is amazing. Rainbow Village is delivering in a big way. Breaking the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence is not only imperative to the families we serve, but to the health, vitality, and economic stability of our community overall. Our work positively impacts the unemployment rates, average household earnings, truancy and dropout rates, teenage pregnancy rates, and so much more. I am privileged to have this opportunity to apply my heart and expertise to an organization that has tremendous impact on the lives of so many.”
